Tilting at Windmills, examines the efforts of artists working in 2009. One can acknowledge the past year has known one of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, the worst unemployment rates since the early 1980's, the initial year of America's first black president, rampant fear of H1N1 pandemics, and a social and political unrest the likes of which have not been seen since the late 1960's. In such an environment it is unproblematic to identify a multitude of issues an artist could either directly or indirectly consider for conceptual fodder. With such a varied amount of topics what kind of art was created in 2009? This exhibition involves the work of 20 plus artists living and practicing during exceptional times.
